Roya Hamburger is an artist from Amsterdam. She does graphic designs for many companies, including magazine companies, advertisement agencies, publishers and more. Many of Ms. Hamburgers works are done digitally, and she works with various computer software editing programs. Her pieces are very interesting and playful, and have a 3D feel to them as well.
This piece is titled Dilemma. This is one of Roya Hamburger's more detailed pieces. The denotations of this artwork are that there is woman who is the main focus of the piece. Around the woman are many random items branching off of different lines. All the items around the woman are in a similar orange to red color. The woman in the middle has pale skin, a bright white apron, black heels, a red scarf, and colorful hair. There is the word "Dilemma" written by the woman's face. The artwork gives the illusion of being done on a piece of grid paper that seems to be pretty old.
The connotations of this piece of artwork are that the woman in the middle is wearing an apron and heels, so she seems to be a housewife or have the job of a housewife. All the different objects and lines around her seem to be different decisions, or "Dilemmas" that she is facing throughout her day. Which way to go, and what to do that day. The grid paper represents a map or directions for her day and the different "Dilemmas" she is facing.
This next piece of art is entitled Tree Time. The denotations of this particular piece are that there is a large tree in the artwork, made up of different greens and purples. There are two green birds, and an orange tea pot. The words "Tree Time" are written to the right of the tree. The artwork is designed to represent a page of a book.
The connotations of the piece are the tree is representative of the book. You use trees to make books. The colors are very happy and the birds represent joy. The teapot represents a calm and peaceful cup of tea, just like reading a book is calm and peaceful. "Tree Time" refers to enjoying a book, maybe even outside with trees and things that make you happy and calm.
