For this Blog Assignment, I used the Fake Infrared Tutorial on the website www.worth1000.com.
This is a link to the tutorial I used -> Fake Infrared Tutorial
1. This is a snapshot of my original image. I took this photo at Old Mans Cave in Hocking Hills this past Spring Break. I thought it would be a good photo to apply an infrared filter to.
2. This is my second snapshot. For this step of the editing process, I used the channel mixer to change the photo to a grey scale and made the greens very high.
3. For this snapshot, I had done two different things to my photo. I duplicated the background layer twice, and on one layer I sharpened the image, and on the other layer, I blurred the image using Gaussian Blur. After that, I adjusted the opacity of both layers to make the image blend together.
4. In this snapshot, I had been adjusting the curves of the photo. I had trouble with this step, because I have never used the curves application, so I was not really sure what I was doing with it. In the tutorial, I was also unable to really understand how to use it, so I only made minor adjustments with the curves application.
5. This is a snapshot of my final "Fake Infrared" image. I believe that the image in the tutorial looks better than mine, but this is the best I could do. I messed around with many different color choices, but this seemed to be the closest one to looking infrared. I painted a new layer, and then adjusted the opacity to make the image come through the painted layer.
My final image!
